Bilingua Princeps presents the earliest translations of seminal works from the European heritage along with their sources. The choice is based firstly on the role that the original and the translation have played in the exchange of ideas and cultures, secondly on the perspectives that they reveal about their respective countries. Both the original works and the translations are reprinted from the early editions (which are generally extremely rare) and are presented and annotated with a view to underlining the importance of their (re)publication.
